Mission #14

1/30/2016

Today has been a busy day!  I had a birthday party right after leaving my grandparents' house, so I'm just now getting back home... BUT I am going right back outside to ride my horses because it's sunny and almost 50 degrees out!  That's a lot warmer than it has been (and no snow!), so I'm going to take nature up on her offer.

Today's Mission:
  • Click on the SHARE tab to go to our KidBlog site.
  • Start a new post and title it "Mission #14".
  • Tell me about your favorite thing to do outdoors.  If you want to share a picture or drawing, please do!
  • In that same post, tell me about your best or worst experience doing that favorite thing. For example, if you like climbing trees, maybe your worst time was getting stung by wasps or falling out of the tree... or your best time was when you found a nest of newly-hatched birds.
  • Make sure you're checking out your other Kid Authors' posts and comments. Maybe you'll find someone who enjoys the same outdoorsy stuff you do!

Nothing Is Impossible

1/29/2016

You can do very difficult things--even things that seem impossible. Maybe the impossible thing has nothing to do with writing. Maybe you're trying to learn a new trick with your skateboard or dirtbike. Maybe you're trying to learn a new piano piece or write code for a computer program. Whatever it is, don't give up!

Have fun writing and drawing pictures with our Kid Authors project today. You're not behind, so just jump in where are you. Take a minute to say hi to the other Kid Authors.

I'll be back later tomorrow for your next mission.  :-)

Mission #13

Hey Kid Authors!  Thanks for the jokes yesterday!  I really needed a laugh, and boy did your jokes help me do that.  :-)
Today's Mission:
  • Log in to our KidBlog site by clicking on the SHARE tab.
  • Keep working on any stories you're still writing on (DiveBomb, etc.). You can keep writing on any of these missions for as long as you want!
  • Make a new post and title it "Mission 12".
  • Imagine you're a spy and you're teaching a brand new spy how to do something spy-ish or use one of your spy gadgets.
If you have any questions, let me know. Otherwise, have fun!

No video today!
Today's Mission:
  • Log in to our KidBlog site by clicking on the SHARE tab.
  • Spend today catching up on Mission #11 and your DiveBomb stories (which look great, by the way!).
  • In the comments, send me your funniest (clean) joke. I could use a good laugh today!

Mission #11

You don't have to stop writing your DiveBomb stories, or adding on to other Kid Authors' stories. Keep doing that if you are enjoying it or your story isn't done. We're just going to move on to something different for right now.

Today's mission:
  • Log into our KidBlog site by clicking on the SHARE tab.
  • Make a new post and title it "Mission #11".
  • Think of a story you like (example: Cinderella), and write a story like it. Retell the story you like using your own characters...  Watchthe video if you're still not sure what I'm talking about.
  • You do NOT need to add on to anyone else's story, but you can leave a comment if you have something nice to say.
That's it for now!

Bonus Mission #2

Make a new post (if you're on the KidBlog site) and finish this story! (It can be as long or as short as you like).

You wake up this morning to a great crash in your back yard. When you look out your window, you can't believe your eyes. You see...

Mission #10

Today's Mission:
  • Keep commenting on DiveBomb stories, especially the stories that don't have many comments yet. You can write more on your story, too. Don't worry! You don't have to finish your stories yet--you can keep adding to them until the end of the project. We will focus on something new starting tomorrow.
  • Do you have any new DiveBomb, Biggy, or Diggy pictures to share?
  • If you are ready to do something different or your story is done, check out one of the Bonus Missions. I posted Bonus Mission #1 yesterday and will post Bonus Mission #2 in a little while.
You're not behind! Everyone issharing at their own pace, which is perfect. Just do what you can!  :-)

If you're having trouble with typing all these words, make sure you check this out:
Or you can record and upload an audio file of your story using the Voice Memo app on an iPhone. (This is what my app icon looks like.)

Bonus Mission #1

Wow. I am very sleepy on this video! Nap time!
Anyway...

You asked for it, so here it is--Bonus Mission #1:
  • Make a New Post and title it "Bonus Mission #1".
  • Write a story or poem about a lost item (for example, a penny or sock). YOU are the lost item, and you can think.  So let's hear about what you do or see when you're a lost item. If it's easier, draw a picture instead!

Remember, this is just extra for those who wanted more to do than our regular missions. If you don't have time to do it, it's okay.

Today's Mission (and your only mission until Monday):
  • Keep commenting on each other (and your own) stories!
  • Comment on this post and tell me two things:
  1. Your favorite part of the Kid Authors Project so far.
  2. Your least favorite part of the Kid Authors Project so far.
That's it!  Have a great rest of your weekend!
