In case you missed it, I've relaunched DANIEL THE DRAW-ER and DANIEL THE CAMP-ER with awesome new covers painted by the amazing Raw Spoon.

Through 11:59PM tonight (August 31), you can pay Amazon a little visit and download DANIEL THE DRAW-ER for free. DANIEL THE CAMP-ER is only .99!

This is the perfect series for kids ages 8-12, teachers, librarians, grandparents, or those of us who refuse to grow up. No potty humor, just a magic pencil that brings young Daniel's wacky drawings to life... and lots of lessons about friendship.

If you already have your copy, please share with friends who might not know about Daniel and his goofy pals. I really appreciate it!

END OF GROUP 1 SURVEY

Over the past couple of months we have shared a lot of great moments together. I hope you were able to be a part of the fun, and I'm asking you to let me know what you thought of the experience.

PLEASE take a few minutes to fill out this survey, even if you (or your child) did not participate. It will help me fine tune the program for the next group.

ALSO--for the kids who will be published in the first group, there is a section on the survey for you to include an author bio for the book and tell me how you'd like your name to appear in the book.  So, please, please, please take the survey because it will help me out with that part of formatting the book.  :-)

Mission #16

Today (and probably tomorrow's) missions:
  • Go to our KidBlog site by clicking on the SHARE tab
  • Fill out a new Meet My Character form.  We are starting a brand new shared story--NOT another DiveBomb story!
  • Fill out a new Meet My Villain form.
Keep writing on your DiveBomb stories or anything else you haven't finished up yet.
You don't have to do them both today, but you can if you want.  :-)

Don't worry about being behind.  I'll slow it down a little bit because it sounds like a lot of you feel like you're always working to catch up.  Does that sound good (to slow down the missions)? Also, do you watch/like the videos?

Mission #15

2/1/2016

Happy Monday, everybody! It's so sunny and beautiful here today. Hope the sun is shining wherever you are.  :-)
Today's Mission:
  • Go to our KidBlog site by clicking on the SHARE tab
  • Make a new post and title it "Mission 15".
  • Write a diamond (or "diamente") poem.
Diamond/diamente poems are really cool because when you are done with them, they are usually diamond-shaped.  You can write about pretty much anything. I even saw a Minecraft diamond poem when I was looking for examples.

Picture
Here's how to write a diamond poem where the poem is about the same subject (see the green poem in the above picture):
  • Line 1:  Your subject
  • Line 2: Two adjectives (or words that describe) that go with your subject
  • Line 3: Three verbs (or action words that end in "-ing") that go with your subject
  • Line 4: A short sentence or phrase that goes with your subject
  • Line 5: Three verbs (or action words that end in "-ing") that go with your subject
  • Line 6: Two adjectives (or words that describe) that go with your subject
  • Line 7: Your subject. This line can be the same word as Line 1 or slightly different. (For example: Dog and Puppy)

You can also change your subjects to make a contrasting poem (see the orange poem in the picture above).  Here's how to do that:

  • Line 1:  Your subject (Subject 1)
  • Line 2: Two adjectives (or words that describe) that go with Subject 1.
  • Line 3: Three verbs (or action words that end in "-ing") that go with Subject 1
  • Line 4: A short sentence or phrase that goes with Subject 1 and 2
  • Line 5: Three verbs (or action words that end in "-ing") that go with Subject 2
  • Line 6: Two adjectives (or words that describe) that go with Subject 2
  • Line 7: Subject 2.

Here's a cool website to help you write your diamond poem!

Mission #14

1/30/2016

Today has been a busy day!  I had a birthday party right after leaving my grandparents' house, so I'm just now getting back home... BUT I am going right back outside to ride my horses because it's sunny and almost 50 degrees out!  That's a lot warmer than it has been (and no snow!), so I'm going to take nature up on her offer.

Today's Mission:
  • Click on the SHARE tab to go to our KidBlog site.
  • Start a new post and title it "Mission #14".
  • Tell me about your favorite thing to do outdoors.  If you want to share a picture or drawing, please do!
  • In that same post, tell me about your best or worst experience doing that favorite thing. For example, if you like climbing trees, maybe your worst time was getting stung by wasps or falling out of the tree... or your best time was when you found a nest of newly-hatched birds.
  • Make sure you're checking out your other Kid Authors' posts and comments. Maybe you'll find someone who enjoys the same outdoorsy stuff you do!
